HOW MUCH I MAKE GHOSTWRITING NOVELS ON UPWORK

And is it worth it?

I first came across Upwork nearly eight years ago.

Back then, the very concept of making money as a freelancer writer was as alien to me as pigs suddenly wearing human clothes and sitting down to dinner (at the time, I hadn’t read Animal Farm either). But when I signed up to the website, when I started getting actual paid work from it, I was struck by how simple the process was. And how convenient.

But anyone can make money from Upwork. The real question is, can you make good money from Upwork? And even more so, as it applies to ghostwriting fiction novels? Unfortunately, the answer to this isn’t that simple.

What is Upwork and how does it work?

For those that don’t know, Upwork is a content-mill site that acts sort of like the Yellow Pages for freelance work. I personally use it for creative writing, but I know others that use it for anything from graphic design jobs to writing essays for university students too lazy to do their own work. It literally has it all.

The main problem with Upwork (and similar sites) as I see it, is that the pay isn’t very good. Creatives are criminally undervalued on these sites, and I’ve seen jobs that should take as long as a week being offered for less…
